The American Legion Post 100, 97 N. Third St. in Carbondale, would like to invite all veterans to a free spaghetti dinner and to celebrate the 232nd anniversary of the Marines at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11.

The Bea Underwood Elementary Soaring Eagle Choir, under the direction of Jeff Van Devender, will host a Veterans Day Ceremony along with members of Parachute VFW at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, in the Bea Underwood Elementary gym in Parachute. The public is invited to attend this event of special remembrance, which pays tribute to those who served.



Students at Crystal River Elementary School invite you to attend their annual Veterans Day Performance. Honor local veterans at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9, in the CRES gym, located at 160 Snowmass Drive in Carbondale.

Aspen Elks Lodge #224 will again host its annual Veterans Day Luncheon and Program at noon Friday, Nov. 9, at the lodge in Aspen. Veterans are cordially invited to attend.

The 232nd birthday of the United States Marine Corps will be observed at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at the Aspen Grove Cemetery flag pole.

A luncheon will follow at the Hickory House. Marines and friends of the Marine Corps are invited.

A traditional Veterans Day Ceremony will be conducted at 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, at the Roaring Fork Valley Veterans Memorial in Aspen, next to the Pitkin County Courthouse on Main Street. Veterans will lay a memorial wreath. The Memorial Flame will be lighted, and expressions by those in attendance will be heard. The public is invited. Veterans are encouraged to wear items of military memorabilia.

A Veterans Day celebration will be held at Sopris Elementary School at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9. Everyone is welcome.

The public is invited to the eighth annual Veterans Day Celebration at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, at Riverside Middle School in New Castle.

Veterans are invited to wear uniforms and to sign in at 1 p.m.

Coffee and snacks will be offered in the school library following the ceremony.

The Glenwood Springs Middle and High schools invite the public to attend two veterans’ concerts to honor these heroes. All veterans are invited to arrive 30 minutes prior to the programs to register.

The programs will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, at Glenwood Springs Middle School; and at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, at Glenwood Springs High School.

Annette Roberts-Gray is exhibiting her pottery and photography at the Glenwood Springs Community Center with an exhibit entitled, “In Honor of Veterans’ Day, 2007.”

She made memorial vases to honor the U.S. soldiers who have lost their lives in Iraq, photographs of the vase installations, primarily in outdoor and remote locations are included in, and add greatly to the total effect of the exhibit.
