White is best choice for District 57
Republican Al White has been the state representative for District 57 for six years and has done an admirable job. If elected, this will be White’s fourth and final term. We believe he’s the most qualified and best candidate for District 57 in this election.During his time in office, White has done some good work in District 57, which includes all or parts of Moffat, Jackson, Grand, Rio Blanco, Routt and Garfield counties.District 57 is indeed a massive district. We understand the challenges that come with representing such a large region; however, we do need to be a little selfish and ask that more attention be devoted to issues surrounding the oil and gas industry, which is one of the biggest issues facing the Garfield County portion of District 57.Both White and his challenger Democrat Andrew Gold are from Grand County. Whoever is elected needs to keep a keen eye on western Garfield County.Gold said he wants to look at the energy issue more in the future. He points to education as his No. 1 priority.White agrees that energy is a big issue facing the district, but he points to the pine beetle kill infestation problems as his top priority. It does pose a real problem and threat, but we also want more attention turned to our largest issue here in Garfield County. Some of White’s best work while in office has been securing tourism funding for the state, and we feel that he will continue being a tourism advocate for Colorado and the district if re-elected.White has a sound understanding of the district and the challenges it presents. We feel his experience gives him a better understanding of District 57 and its needs, thus making him the best choice.Yes, we’d like to see him address the issues facing western Garfield County more, but we also understand that the geographic hurdles make it difficult to satisfy everyone.Through his actions in his previous six years and his plans for the future, we feel Al White is the best candidate for District 57.
