Zipline: a new way to get there
Have you heard the latest news? Just in time for the holidays, RFTA will be debuting its first high-speed bus route, a direct service between Aspen and Glenwood Springs tomorrow, Nov. 22. The new route will provide a zippy ride from Aspen to Glenwood and selected points in between. This route will offer riders an off-peak option for making a fast trip from Aspen to Glenwood and back: starting at Rubey Park at 9 a.m., and arriving in downtown Glenwood at 10 a.m. – stopping only at Park & Rides and few major stops. The return trip will leave the West Glenwood Park and Ride at 2:45 p.m. (downtown Glenwood at 2:53) and arrive back at Rubey Park about 3:50 p.m. By eliminating many stops made by the typical valley routes, RFTA is able to reduce the travel times from one end of the valley to another. This route will also run on weekends, so it’s a great option for upvalley residents to take the bus to Glenwood for a lunch and shopping trip, or head to the Hot Springs Pool or Vapor Caves to “Soak it all in.” No need for your car at all – once in Glenwood, do all your errands via the free Ride Glenwood bus. RFTA’s new zippy bus service makes riding the bus easy, and now more convenient than ever. RFTA will continue providing half-hour service throughout the Roaring Fork Valley during the extended commuter hours. For significant portions of the day, valley buses are running every 30 minutes from Glenwood to communities both up- and downvalley, from Rifle to Aspen and Snowmass. Ride Glenwood Springs operates Monday through Sunday until 10 p.m. daily, making it more convenient to shop and dine in at restaurants throughout town. For RFTA and Ride Glenwood bus schedules, purchasing RFTA bus passes or other alternative transportation options, call 384-6437 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org. Bus schedules/maps are also available by visiting http://www.rfta.com or http://www.ci.glenwood-springs.co.us, and look under the transportation pages.Sabrina Harris is transportation manager for the city of Glenwood Springs.
