3 Titans, 2 Rams earn 3A WSL honors

Following an 8-11 season with a young team, the Coal Ridge Titans’ baseball team saw three key players earn First-Team 3A Western Slope League All-Conference list, while the Roaring Fork Rams — after an 8-11 season as well — saw two standouts earn first-team honors.

For the Titans, senior catcher Tyler Slone was named first-team catcher after hitting .434 with five doubles, one triple and 20 runs batted in on the year. Behind the plate, Slone had a fielding percentage of .922 for the Titans. Along with Slone, freshman pitcher Jared Whitaker earned first-team honors on the mound after going 4-1 with a 3.27 earned run average on the year.

Whitaker also struck out 26 hitters and walked 24 in just 25.2 innings of work. Joining Whitaker senior Ty Huck earned first-team honors as a utility player for the Titans. On the year, Huck hit .426 with five doubles, three triples, two home runs and 19 runs batted in.

For the Rams, senior outfielder Aldo Pinela made the first team after hitting .356 with three doubles, 13 runs batted in and 18 stolen bases in 18 attempts for Roaring Fork. Joining Pinela on the first team was junior Ralph Good, who made it as a utility player.

In his junior season, Good hit .452 with five doubles and 16 runs batted in at the plate, while going 2-4 with a 5.25 ERA, 22 strikeouts and 10 walks in 44 innings of work for the Rams.

Making the All-Conference team as an honorable mention was Coal Ridge freshman infielder Jared Lund (.340, 14 runs batted in).

Delta head coach Steve Reiher earned the 3A WSL Coach of the Year, while Delta senior first baseman Justin Violett earned 3A WSL Player of the Year.
