A red carpet experience for Rifle-area adoptive home families

To celebrate National Adoption Day, Garfield County Department of Human Services and the Brenden Rifle 7 Theatres hosted a free community movie screening of “Free Birds” on Friday, Nov. 15. The department honored two local adoptive families, who were invited to walk down a red carpet. Families will receive free family photo keepsakes of the occasion.
Foster homes provide temporary substitute care for children from birth through 18. Approximately 50 children are in out-of-home care in Garfield County. National Adoption Day is an effort to raise awareness of the more than 100,000 children in foster care waiting to find permanent, loving families. The day has helped nearly 44,500 children move from foster care to a forever family.
