Annual Roan Cliff Chaos set for Saturday and Sunday

Registration is open for the annual Roan Cliff Chaos mountain bike race, Saturday and Sunday, June 15-16, north of Rifle on the Bureau of Land Management’s JQS area.

The BLM-permitted race series is on desert trails with plenty of desert hazards.

The beginner race will run one circuit of the course. Sport racers will go two laps, and those competing in the expert division will run three laps.

A hill climb race set for 8 a.m. June 16 will feature a 2,600-foot vertical climb in eight miles. Separate divisions for beginners, intermediates and advanced riders are available.

Cost is $25 for one race and $40 for two races.
