The 101st is the oldest military band in Colorado, dating back to 1937. It consists of 40 citizen-soldiers who perform together part time as musical ambassadors for the United States Army, the National Guard, and the state of Colorado. Soldiers come from all walks of life and come together as professional musicians to honor and entertain the service members, veterans and residents of Colorado.
The band’s duties consist of performing at military ceremonies, entertainment venues and festivals, as well as maintaining soldier skills such as rifle marksmanship and physical readiness training. The 101st Army Band performs as a large-format concert band, as well as several smaller performing groups — a rock band, country band, Dixieland jazz band and a wind ensemble. More information about the band can be found at http://www.101starmyband.com.
