Garfield County Federal Mineral Lease District presents check

Board and staff members from the Garfield County Federal Mineral Lease District presented Grand River Health with a $250,000 check for the completion of the Emergency Department waiting area remodel on April 14.

This project increases patient and staff safety, patient flow and the functionality of the waiting area for Grand River patients, according to a press release.

Parachute-Battlement Mesa Area Chamber to host Business After Hours

The Parachute-Battlement Mesa Area Chamber of Commerce will host its first Business After Hours mixer of 2016. The mixer runs from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, April 28, at Alpine Bank in Battlement Mesa, located at 82 Sipprelle Drive. The event will feature food, beverages and an opportunity to network.

Fancy Desserts Fridays at Whistle Pig

The Whistle Pig Coffee Stop and Cafe is now open Friday evenings for those looking to satisfy their sweet tooth. The new Fancy Desserts Fridays will feature a rotation of different desserts each Friday from 5 to 9 p.m.

Parachute Library host event featuring local art

The Parachute Branch Library will host the second annual SPLAT (Supporting Parachute’s Local Artists & Talent) event at 5 p.m. Friday, April 29.

Last year was the first year the library hosted this community art event, which featured more than 20 artists. More than 60 pieces art were on display for the viewing, which aims to celebrate the talent in the community.

This year, the event will include music and spoken word performances before the gallery viewing. The Parachute Branch Library is located at 244 Grand Valley Way.

Hubbard Mesa Cleanup

The annual Hubbard Mesa cleanup, organized and sponsored by High Country 4 Wheelers Jeep club and the White River Trail Runners ATV/UTV club, is slated for Saturday, May 7.

It will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with lunch — catered by Shooters Grill — being served around noon. Anyone seeking further information can visit the White River Trail Runners ATV/UTV club Facebook page at or call the BLM Colorado River Valley Field Office at 970-876-9000.
