Epic: that one word describes this year’s Empty Bowls where Grand River Health and Colorado Mountain College Rifle Campus teamed up for CMC’s 50th anniversary to help fight hunger one bowl at a time. – Epic! We broke all previous years’ records:

Almost 500 bowls sold. (remember each bowl purchased pays for one week’s worth of meals on wheels)

Raised about $8,500 for Grand River Meals on Wheels

Over 400 attended with standing room only at times

And had an amazing time doing it!

The biggest shout out goes to the CMC Rifle Ceramics and Culinary Arts students who dedicated the past few months (and more) to this project. They can sleep easier tonight knowing they helped alleviate senior hunger from New Castle to Parachute.

Then there is the media: ask and you shall receive – thank you to Post Independent staff Carla Jean Whitley, Chelsea Self, KMTS, KSUN & the River radio stations, and Art Scene with Christine Brusig for their amazing coverage of this event.

And to Michelle McCurdy, whose brainchild and legacy this event shall remain, Laura Hardman and the CMC Rifle Staff who selected Empty Bowls to be their one and only 50th Anniversary collaborative event. A final thank you to all who came out in droves and enjoyed this community event through the simplicity of soup, a smile and a bowl to go home with.
