Free winter concert series at the Ute starts Friday

The city of Rifle has announced the first two shows of a series of free concerts at the New Ute Events Center.

“We hope to have entire families coming out and dancing to some great local and regional music,” said events manager Don Chaney. “We want to be the first community in the area to have a free concert series in the winter, when there are not as many things to do and families are looking for some fun.”

First up, the Missing Link Band will perform at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15.

The second show in the series will be Friday, Jan. 29, when Bicycle Annie featuring Gonzales bring their great rock ensemble to the stage.

“Gonzales’ voice is incredible,” Chaney said.“We had them here on a snowy night in December and wanted to bring her back to introduce to a larger audience.”

More shows will be announced soon, with plans to run through April.
