Garfield County Sheriff’s Office Crime Report – Jan. 9, 2014
Editor’s note: The Garfield County Sheriff’s Office reports the following incidents and arrests. Summonses or arrests merely indicate an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless found guilty in court.
Warrant arrest: Deputies contacted a woman in a vehicle on County Road 346 outside Rifle on Dec. 31, 2013, at 5:13 p.m. Tayne Hazel Angerman, 21, of Silt, was arrested on suspicion of speeding and on an active warrant and taken to jail.
Warrant arrest: Deputies responded to a domestic disturbance on County Road 335 outside New Castle on Jan. 1 at 2:26 a.m. Tajinder Singh Dogra, 28, of New Castle, was arrested on an active warrant and taken to jail.
Menacing arrest: Deputies responded to a menacing incident on Iron Wedge Circle in Battlement Mesa on Jan. 1 at 7:40 p.m. Joshua James Sears, 36, was arrested on suspicion of theft, menacing, violation of bond conditions, carrying a concealed weapon and violation of a restraining order. He was taken to jail.
Fraud: Deputies responded to a reported fraud/forgery on County Road 346 outside Silt on Jan. 2 at 11:10 a.m. The case is currently closed/inactive pending further leads.
Missing gun: Deputies took a report of a missing gun in the 100 block of Shotgun Drive outside Rifle on Jan. 2 at 3:20 p.m. The case is currently closed/inactive pending further leads.
Domestic arrest: Deputies responded to a report of a domestic dispute in the 200 block of Mineral Springs Circle in Battlement Mesa on Jan. 2 at 7:17 a.m. Cory Eugene Simerl, 28, of Battlement Mesa, was arrested on suspicion of child abuse, domestic violence, criminal mischief and harassment. He was taken to jail.
Driving arrest: Deputies made a traffic stop at mile marker 75 in the westbound lanes of I-70 outside Parachute on Jan. 5 at 10 p.m. Jose Antonio Renteria, 34, of Grand Junction, was arrested on suspicion of driving with a suspended license and taken to jail.
Burglary: On Jan. 6 at 11:42 a.m., deputies received a report of a burglary on U.S. Highway 6 east of Rifle. This case is closed/inactive pending further leads.
Arrest: Deputies responded to a call on Bryan Loop in Battlement Mesa on Jan. 6 at 12:43 p.m. Ashley Ann Mortensen, 27, of Battlement Mesa, was arrested on suspicion of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and taken to jail.
