Garfield County Sheriff’s Office Crime Report – March 13, 2014

Editor’s note: The Garfield County Sheriff’s Office reports the following incidents and arrests. Summonses or arrests merely indicate an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless found guilty in court.

Domestic violence: Deputies responded to a call on Dogwood Lane in Battlement Mesa on March 2 at 8:22 p.m. Maria Michelle Weeks, 39, of Battlement Mesa, was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence, third degree assault and criminal trespass. She was taken to jail.



Warrant arrest: Deputies contacted a man on Horizon Circle in Battlement Mesa on March 3 at 5:35 p.m. Kenneth Cole Vanvalkenburg, 32, of Battlement Mesa, was arrested on an active warrant and taken to jail.

Warrant arrest: Deputies contacted a man in a vehicle on County Road 293 outside Rifle on March 3 at 6:37 p.m. Victor Daniel Astorga-Guireca, 27, of Rifle, was arrested on suspicion of speeding, criminal impersonation, driving without a valid license and on an active warrant. He was taken to jail.



Warrant arrest: Deputies made a traffic stop on River Frontage Road outside Silt on March 5 at 5:45 p.m. Jorge Gutierrez Gonzalez, 36, of New Castle, was arrested on suspicion of driving with a revoked license, speeding and on an active warrant. He was taken to jail.

Warrant arrest: Deputies contacted a woman on Colorado Highway 325 north of Rifle on March 5 at 9:16 p.m. Billie Jo Jewell, 47, of Rifle, was arrested on an active warrant and taken to jail.

Traffic, warrant arrests: Deputies stopped a vehicle in the 200 block of West 20th Street outside Rifle on March 7 at 3:40 p.m. Shasta Marie Girouard, 31, of Rifle, was arrested on suspicion of not having license plates on the vehicle, failure to provide proof of insurance and driving with a suspended license. Robert Michaelis, 33, of Rifle, was arrested on an active warrant. They were both taken to jail.

Drug arrest: Deputies responded to a call on Tamarisk Trail in Battlement Mesa on March 8 at 9:01 p.m. Christopher Eric Castillo, 29, of Silt, was arrested on suspicion of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, violation of bail bond condition and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was taken to jail.

Domestic violence: Deputies responded to a call on County Road 320 outside Rifle on March 9 at 12:22 a.m. Dean Edward Harris, 49, of Colorado Springs, was arrested on suspicion of stalking, domestic violence, DUI, having an open alcoholic beverage container in the vehicle, driving with excessive alcohol content, two counts of harassment and violation of a restraining order. He was taken to jail.

Warrant arrest: Deputies responded to a call on West Silverbell Place in Battlement Mesa on March 9 at 11:43 a.m. Christopher John Warde, 27, of Battlement Mesa, was arrested on an active warrant and taken to jail.

Warrant arrest: A deputy contacted a man on Tamarisk Court in Battlement Mesa on March 9 at 5:59 p.m. Juan Daniel Cornejo, 21, of Battlement Mesa, was arrested on an active warrant and taken to jail.

Warrant arrest: Deputies contacted a woman on U.S. Highway 6 east of Rifle on March 10 at 12:45 a.m. Brittany Lea Sprayberry, 27, of Rifle, was arrested on an active warrant and taken to jail.

Order violation: Deputies received a report of a protection order violation at the Garfield County Jail, 107 8th Street in Glenwood Springs, on March 10 at 4:01 p.m. Christopher John Warde, 27, of Battlement Mesa, was charged with violation of a protection order and domestic violence.
