Garfield County Sheriff’s Office Crime Report – May 29, 2014
Editor’s note: The Garfield County Sheriff’s Office reports the following incidents and arrests. Summonses or arrests merely indicate an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless found guilty in court.
Traffic arrest: Deputies made a traffic stop on County Road 320 in Rifle Village South on May 20 at 9:20 p.m. Devin Monroe Kerns, 28, of Rifle, was arrested on suspicion of having a fake license, speeding, driving with a revoked license, possession of weapons by a previous offender, failure to provide proof of insurance, reckless driving and eluding. He was taken to jail.
Dog bite: An animal control deputy responded to a citizen complaint of a dog having bitten a child on West Silver Bell Place in Battlement Mesa on May 21 at 9:33 a.m. The child was treated for scrapes and abrasions to three fingers. The dog owner was contacted and the dog placed under routine quarantine. The victim’s parent did not wish to pursue criminal charges against the dog’s owner.
Warrant arrest: On May 21 at 8:14 p.m., deputies arrested Christopher Eric Castillo, 29, of Silt, in the 700 block of Elder Court in Rifle on an active warrant. He was taken to jail.
Traffic summons: Deputies made a traffic stop in the eastbound lanes of I-70 near Silt on May 23 at 5:51 p.m. Luis Moo Cruz, 19, of Rifle, was issued a summons and released.
Order violation: Deputies stopped a vehicle in the westbound lanes of I-70 near Rifle on May 24 at 2:47 a.m. Warren Davis, 36, of Rifle, was arrested on suspicion of violation of a restraining order.
Dog summons: Deputies responded to an animal complaint on County Road 243 outside New Castle on May 26 at 6:43 p.m. Sharon Ann Kosmalski, 47, of New Castle, was issued a summons for allowing her dog to run at large, not having the dog licensed and for allowing it to harass livestock, wildlife, people or property.
Traffic summons: Deputies stopped a vehicle near Colorado Highway 13 and Howard Avenue outside Rifle on May 26 at 11:22 p.m. Dennis Frank Standridge, 42, of Grand Junction, was issued a summons for allegedly having a fake license plate, failure to provide proof of insurance and speeding.
Traffic summons: Deputies made a traffic stop on County Road 244 outside Rifle on May 27 at 8:37 p.m. Seth Michael Myers, 21 of Rifle, was issued a summons for allegedly having an open container of alcohol in his vehicle and driving with a revoked license.
Warrant arrest: Deputies contacted a person on County Road 138 outside New Castle on May 27 at 12:39 a.m. Aislinn Arbogast-Bailey, 37, of New Castle, was arrested on an active warrant and taken to jail.
Warrant arrest: Deputies contacted a man on County Road 138 outside New Castle on May 27 at 7:05 p.m. John Fabian Hile, 41, of New Castle, was arrested on an active warrant and taken to jail.
Harassment: Deputies responded to a call on County Road 301 outside Parachute on May 27 at 9:48 p.m. Brian Paul Fritze, 44, of Parachute, was arrested on suspicion of harassment and child abuse and taken to jail.
