Garfield School District Re-2 held its annual retirement and district celebration Saturday, May 30, to honor its employees, celebrate the school year and say good-bye to several retiring teachers and staff.

Those leaving the district served for 79 years.

The Clough Foundation honored one teacher from each building as Teacher of the Year. This award is given based on peer nominations. Each winning teacher received $500 for use in their classroom or for professional development.

The district also honored an outstanding classified employee and gave safety awards to staff members from each building. The safety award is given to a staff member who encourages safe behaviors and goes above and beyond to help students and staff with safe behaviors.

The district received donations from Wells Fargo, McDonald’s, Taco Bell, United Co., Jimmy John’s and the Hampton Inn to help hold this celebration.
