JQS Road northwest of Rifle reopens after rock slide cleared

Staff Report

The Bureau of Land Management has reopened the JQS Road northwest of Rifle, which had been closed since Friday, Aug. 16, due to a rock slide. It was cleared this past weekend.

The JQS Road is one of two public access routes to the top of the Roan Plateau. The rockslide was discovered Thursday, Aug. 15, close to the base of the plateau, about five miles west of Colorado Highway 13, where the road begins climbing the steep cliff.
