Kosmowski at Midland Arts

Rifle’s Midland Arts Company continues to host openings from 5-7 p.m. on First Fridays, and this month’s featured artist is Glenwood artist Noemi Kosmowski.

An accomplished painter and muralist, Kosmowski was born in Katowice, Poland, to four generations of professional artists. In 1987, she moved to New York with their family where their art careers flourished and their individual reputations grew. Over the past 20 years, Noemi’s art has evolved from classical renderings to explosive contemporary realism.

With her husband, Krystof, she is currently working on a sidewalk mural in front of High Country Gems and Minerals in Glenwood. She is also an instructor at the Glenwood Springs Center for the Arts.

“Art connects people,” she said. “Everything is art. Walls. Cars. Tables. Whatever we make and whatever we see.”

Kosmowski is particularly inspired by nature, and includes people in that category. Her show at Midland Arts — 101 E. Third St. in Rifle — will reflect an autumn theme.

“I really like bright colors,” she said. “I am a full-time artist, and I need to show my work for people to have it.”
