I enjoy the Running Burrito (222 E. First St., Parachute; 404-2599, facebook.com/runningburritop). This is a little taco wagon, which has upgraded over the years. The working class through Parachute all know Claudia and her breakfast burritos are amazing and huge at a low price. The Little Coffee Shack (222 E. First St., Parachute; 285-0114, thelittlecoffeeshack.com) is next door so you have a great morning stop on First Street to get everything.
where do you go for music?
Oktoberfest!!!!!! (Sept. 30, Cottonwood Park, 100 Yampa Ave., Parachute; oktoberfestco.com)
Shommy’s (28 Cardinal Way, Parachute; 285-9711; facebook.com/shommysrestaurant) is still a decent hangout/bar. All of the “bars” have been closed for some time. The Grand Vista Hotel (228 Railroad Ave., Parachute; 285-1122; grandvistaparachute.com) is renovating a small bar and lounge. If it is like their Grand Junction location it could be a promising place.
It is easy here: We have the river, hiking, trails ponds and parks so I can get nearly anywhere on foot.
Don’t miss this
We are promoting the reservoirs known as the Battlement Lakes (parachutecolorado.com, pictured). I have not yet made it to the top to see them, but I did recently make an attempt at the trail ride. There is a hiking and extreme off-road trail. These reservoirs can be fished, you can camp, hike, picnic etc.
