Westbound traffic on I-70 was shut down for about two hours at the Silt exit on Wednesday, June 12, when a logging truck caught fire, according to officials.

At about 2:30 p.m., a truck with logs caught on fire on I-70 just east of Walmart in Rifle. Area firefighters responded and quickly extinguished the fire on the truck, but the logs also caught fire, so traffic was shut down and motorists were diverted to U.S. Highway 6.

No injuries were reported.
