Re-2 board petitions due today

Individuals interested in serving on the Garfield Re-2 Board of Education have until 1 p.m. today to return the necessary paperwork to the district office, located at 839 Whiteriver Ave., in order to qualify for the election.

The board is divided into districts, and this year districts B, C, and D are up for election.

District B contains, in general, the eastern portion of Rifle from Whiteriver Ave., and continues to the western town limits of Silt. District C contains, in general, the south portion of Rifle and includes the neighborhoods of Cottonwood Springs, and part of Highlands East. District D contains, in general, the town of Silt, and unincorporated Garfield County both south and east of Silt to New Castle town limits.

Those who are unsure about which district they live in should contact Sharon Donohoue at 970-665-7600. Completed nomination packets and a petition containing at least 50 signatures of registered voters, must be returned to the district office by 1 p.m. today.
