Rifle announces summer concert series lineup

The city of Rifle recently announced the lineup for its Centennial Park Concert Series, which will take place at 6 p.m. Sunday evenings from June 28 through Aug. 16 at the Centennial Park Stage.

The series, presented by Alpine Bank, kicks off with Locals’ Choice Award winners Fifty50 and its high-energy blend of classic, modern and original rock. The following weekend will be the only show that is not on Sunday, as the city of Rifle will present fireworks Friday, July 3, at 8:30 p.m., with a musical accompaniment by Symphony in the Valley.

Following the holiday weekend, Exit 42 brings 22 years of rock and roll to the stage July 12. Blues favorite the Johnny O Band will get the crowd dancing July 19, and local favorites Dry Hollow will bring a special brand of boogie to the park July 26. Country music act the Caleb Dean Band returns to the stage Aug. 2, after a much talked about show last year. Bluegrass at its finest will be on display at the park Aug. 9 with Hell Roaring String Band, and long-time area band Wide Load reunites for the official wrap up of the series Aug. 16.

“We want it to be more than free music,” said Don Chaney, Rifle Special Events manager, “so this year we’ve added miniature golf, Jammin Jim the juggler and face painting clowns for the kids. We want it to be a Sunday in the park with family and friends.”

All shows, except July 3, will start at 6 p.m., and food and drink will be available for sale.
