Rifle chamber chili cook-off a great success

The Rifle Area Chamber of Commerce would like to thank ANB Bank, APEX Security, Mac5 Mortgage, Names & Numbers and KREX-TV for sponsoring this year’s 34th annual ANB Bank Chili Cook-Off and Jalapeño Eating Contest on Thursday, Oct. 10, at the Garfield County Fairgrounds indoor arena.

First place winners were: Red chili, Mountain Air Mechanical; green chili, “Chili De La Muerte;” salsa, Shooter’s Grill; guacamole, Mountain Air Mechanical; specialty, Grand River Health.

“People’s Choice” first place winners included: Red chili, Mountain Air Mechanical; green chili, Mountain Air Mechanical; salsa, Colorado River Fire Rescue; guacamole, Shooter’s Grill; specialty, Shooter’s Grill.

Showmanship awards: First place, Mountain Air Mechanical; second place, Grand River Health; Jalapeño Eating Contest winner, Chris Hetcher; Most Creative chili bowl went to Rifle High School pottery student Alice McKenzie. An APEX Security system was awarded to Dustin Rone.
