Rifle Farmers Market unveiled Friday
Get ready for good, fresh, healthy food, great music and summer fun in downtown Rifle.
The Rifle Farmers Market will officially open from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 27, and run every Friday through Sept. 26.
Rifle Farmers Market board members have been planning for the market since early 2014. This season’s market is sure to please with several exciting additions and improvements.
Instead of being held on Sundays with the Centennial Park Summer Concert series as it had been the last few years, the market will be located in the heart of downtown Rifle, at the community lot on West Second Street and Railroad Avenue. A new shade structure will be installed before the first market, to shelter performers each night and provide a comfortable seating area for patrons to enjoy the live music.
The most anticipated upgrade to the market is the list of fresh produce and food vendors. Vendors will include Clark’s Orchards, Colorado Mountain Honey, Roaring Fork Grill, farm fresh eggs, fresh bread and baked goods, fresh-squeezed lemonade and more.
In addition to the produce vendors, there will also be local nonprofit booths, including Rifle Growing Community, Rifle Lions Club concessions, Rifle Animal Shelter and the Rifle Historical Society. Specialty artisan vendors will range from jewelry to hand-sewn wares and homemade cheesecakes.
The Rifle Farmers Market will also feature a different Colorado band each night. “Electric Lemon” will kick off the season with their unique sound of blues and rock.
The eclectic music line up also includes Frog and Toad, Free the Honey, Let Them Roar, Josh Rogan, the Leonard Curry Trio and many other up and coming local artists.
The 2014 Rifle Farmers Market would not be possible without the support and generosity of the community. A big thank you to the market sponsors: Columbine Ford, Alpine Bank, Rifle Truck & Trailer, Grand River Health, HR Interior Design, Align Multimedia, LadyBug Express, Zoe Life Soapworks, the Rifle Main Street and LiveWell Garfield County programs, Rifle Visitor Improvement Fund and the Rifle Community Foundation. Sponsors will be featured on reusable bags that can be purchased at each market. Volunteers are also needed for various activities throughout the market on each Friday night.
