Rifle municipal ballots due by Sept. 8
Registered Rifle voters have less than two weeks to return their fall municipal ballots to Rifle City Hall.
Ballots were mailed Wednesday, Aug. 19. Voters are being asked to fill five seats on city council, as well as answer a ballot question that would allow the city to borrow up to $5 million for road repairs and the street maintenance program.
Ballots can either be returned via mail — with the address 202 Railroad Ave. — or returned in person, said Lisa Hamilton, city clerk. Signs have been posted at City Hall directing people to Hamilton’s office, where a secure ballot box is located.
She recommends depositing ballots in the secure box during business hours because it is constantly monitored during operation hours and behind a locked door after hours. Hamilton also recommends voters be mindful of mailing ballots closer to the election date. Ballots must be returned by 7 p.m. Sept. 8 in order to be counted in the election.
By now, all eligible and registered voters should have received their ballot, she added. Any residents who meet that criteria and have not received their ballot should contact Hamilton at 665-6405 as soon as possible.
