Rifle Police Department and Garfield County Sheriff’s Office Crime Report – June 19, 2014

Editor’s note: The Rifle Police Department and Garfield County Sheriff’s Office reports the following incidents and arrests. Summonses or arrests merely indicate an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless found guilty in court.

Arrest avoided: Officers attempted to arrest David Lee Lewis in the 1400 block of West Second Street on May 25 at 7:59 p.m., but he ran away. A warrant was issued for his arrest.

Warrant arrest: Police arrested Jose Sanchez, 29, on an outstanding Garfield County warrant in the 200 block of West 20th Street on May 26 at 3:48 p.m.

Warrant arrest: Officers were contacted by the Garfield County Sheriff’s civil service deputy on West 25th Street on May 30 at 8:20 a.m. The deputy said he was trying to serve civil papers to Lyn Bowen, 52, and found she had a warrant for her arrest. Bowen was arrested and taken to jail.

Warrant arrest: Officers contacted Ricardo Morales, 31, of Rifle, on suspicion of driving under suspension on Park Avenue on May 29. Morales was also know to have two active warrants, so he was arrested and taken to jail.

Harassment: On May 31 at 3:03 p.m., officers took a report of harassment on Rail Avenue. A woman reported that Serjio Esteban Ramirez had allegedly harassed her. Ramirez has a restraining order against him, so an arrest warrant was issued.

Harassment: Officers responded to a domestic disturbance in the 800 block of Taughenbaugh Boulevard on May 31 at 1:31 a.m. Sydney Nichole Shaw, 21, and Christopher Phillips, 23, both of Rifle, were arrested on suspicion of harassment and domestic violence. They were taken to jail.

Warrant arrest: Officers responded to a domestic dispute on South Ninth Street on May 31 at 2:02 a.m. Christopher John Phillips, 23, was arrested on an active warrant and on suspicion of domestic violence and harassment. He was taken to jail.

Theft: Officers responded to a call regarding theft on Park Avenue on May 31 at 1:59 p.m. A man reported that his four-wheeled walker was stolen from the back of his truck. The case is under investigation.

Traffic arrest: Deputies made a traffic stop in the 700 block of Park Avenue in Rifle on June 4 at 8:06 p.m. Carmen B. Gonzalez-Lozano, 41, of Rifle, was arrested on suspicion of driving with a revoked license and weaving. He was taken to jail.

Domestic violence: Deputies responded to a call on Hawthorne Way in Battlement Mesa on June 6 at 3:57 p.m. Shawn Michael Duba, 34, of Leadville, was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence, criminal mischief, third degree assault, obstruction of phone services, violation of a protection order and on an active warrant. He was taken to jail.

Traffic summons: Deputies contacted the driver of a vehicle near County Roads 320 and 332 outside Rifle on June 7 at 11:59 a.m. Sergio David Cardenas Lepe, 18, of Rifle, was issued a summons for suspicion of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and driving with his vision obstructed.

Domestic violence: Deputies responded to a call in the 100 block of Smokey Hill Circle in Battlement Mesa on June 7 at 12:25 a.m. Fernando Dominguez-Vidal, 25, of Battlement Mesa, was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence, child abuse and harassment and was taken to jail.

Domestic violence: Deputies responded to a call on County Road 331 outside Silt on June 7 at 7:09 p.m. Huba Philip Quentin Topai, 44, of Silt, was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence and harassment and was taken to jail.

Warrant arrest: Deputies responded to a call on the JQS Trail north of Rifle on June 9 at 1:50 a.m. Brandon Scott May, 18, of Rifle, was arrested on an active warrant and taken to jail.

Warrant arrest: Deputies responded to a call on County Road 333 outside Rifle on June 9 at 8:03 a.m. Eliazar “Chelelo” Ledezma Sandoval, 32, of Gypsum, was arrested on an active warrant and taken to jail.

Warrant arrest: Deputies arrested Shawn Michael Duba, 34, of Battlement Mesa, on an active warrant at the county jail, 107 Eighth St. in Glenwood Springs, on June 11 at 3:08 p.m.
