Rifle Police Department & Garfield County Sheriff’s Office Crime Report – Aug. 15, 2013

Dog at large: The sheriff’s animal control deputy responded to a complaint of a dog in custody on U.S. Highway 6 east of Rifle on July 31 at 9:48 a.m. The dog was impounded and housed at an area animal hospital. The owner, Zita Marquez, 21, of Rifle, was later issued summons for not having the dog licensed and allowing it to run at large.

Theft: On July 31 at 8:43 a.m., police took a report of items stolen from the 700 block of Elder Court. The case is under investigation.



Child abuse: Police responded to the 2600 block of Acacia Avenue on July 31 at 7:19 p.m. for a report of child abuse. Gina Renee McCormick, 41, of Rifle, was issued a summons for child abuse.

Domestic violence: Police responded to a domestic disturbance in the 1500 block of Fir Court on July 31 at 10:23 p.m. Clayton Jeremy Barker, 30, of Rifle, was arrested and taken to jail on suspicion of harassment and domestic violence.



Child abuse: On Aug. 1 at 7:20 p.m., deputies received a report of an incident involving possible child abuse outside Parachute. The case is open and under investigation.

have been identified, the case is closed and inactive pending more evidence.

Stolen vehicle: Police took a report of a stolen vehicle near East Seventh Street and McCarron Court on Aug. 1 at 7:25 p.m. The vehicle was later found and returned to its owner.

Vehicles broken in to: On Aug. 2 at 2:24 a.m., police received a report of vehicles being illegally entered in the 2500 block of Acacia Avenue. The case is under investigation.

Vehicle break in: On Aug. 2 at 6:56 a.m., police took a report of a vehicle broken into and items stolen in the 100 block of East 10th Street.

Football field damage: On Aug. 2 at 7:58 a.m., police took a report of damage to the football field at Rifle High School in the 1300 block of Prefontaine Avenue.

Money stolen: On Aug. 2 at 11:42 a.m., police took a report of the theft of money from a business in the 900 block of Railroad Avenue. The case is under investigation.

Credit card theft: On Aug. 2 at 12:54 p.m., police took a report of the theft of credit cards in the area of East Ninth Street and Railroad Avenue. The cards had been fraudulently used.

Stolen items: On Aug. 2 at 2:15 p.m., police took a report of items stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 3000 block of Coal Mine Avenue.

Theft: Police responded to a theft in the 1300 block of Railroad Avenue and issued a summons for theft to Wesley Allen Romero, 18, of Rifle on Aug. 2 at 5:33 p.m.

Order violation: Officers took a report of alleged violation of a protection order in the Rifle area on Aug. 3 at 3:44 p.m. A warrant has been issued for the suspect.

Warrant issued: Officers saw a vehicle commit traffic infractions in the 2400 block of Acacia Avenue on Aug. 3 at 7:48 p.m. and recognized the male driver, who sped away. Officers tried to find the man at his residence and were told he had allegedly crashed the vehicle. A warrant has been issued for the man.

Minor in possession: Police stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation in the 100 block of East First Street on Aug. 4 at 12:28 a.m. An underage passenger was allegedly under the influence of alcohol and had drug paraphernalia, as well as provided a false identity to officers. Stephanie Alvarado, 20, of El Jebel, was arrested and later released with a summons for minor in possession of alcohol, false reporting and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Trespassing: Police responded to a report of a man looking through vehicles and trash in the 1200 block of Railroad Avenue on Aug. 4 at 12:24 a.m. Michael Gallegos, 31, of Rifle, was arrested on suspicion of trespass and taken to jail.

Trespassing: Officers responded to the 1000 block of Airport Road on Aug. 4 at 7:27 p.m. for a report of a disturbance. Kevin Leonardo Aguirre-Alarcon, 18, of Rifle, was asked to leave the property and refused. Aguirre-Alarcon continued to cause a disturbance and was arrested on suspicion of trespass and disorderly conduct. He was later released with a summons.

Warrant arrest: Deputies made a traffic stop on County Road 352 outside Rifle on Aug. 6 at 6:15 p.m. The driver, Nicholas Lawrence Drake Yerian, 31, of Rifle, was found to have an active warrant. He was arrested and taken to jail.

Warrant arrest: Officers responded to the probation office, 200 E. 18th St., on Aug. 6 at 2:11 p.m. for a man with two probation violation warrants. William Kyle Allen, 26, of Silt, was arrested and taken to jail.

Theft: Deputies responded to a theft report in the 200 block of Mineral Springs Circle in Battlement Mesa on Aug. 7 at 9:40 a.m. The case is closed, pending more evidence.

Theft: Deputies responded to a theft report on U.S. Highway 6 east of Rifle on Aug. 7 at 1:42 p.m. The case is closed, pending further leads.

Warrant arrest: Deputies responded to a residence on U.S. Highway 6 east of Rifle on Aug. 7 at 7:26 p.m. Viviana Lizeth Hidalgo, 34, of Rifle, was arrested on an active warrant and taken to jail.

Warrant arrest: Police learned Shane Kenneth Emel Roberts, 19, of Rifle, was in the 3000 block of Coal Mine Avenue on Aug. 7 at 9:55 a.m. Roberts was known to have felony arrest warrants for sexual assault on a child and failure to register as a sex offender. Roberts was arrested and taken to jail.

Aiding a runaway: Police contacted two people in Centennial Park after park hours on Aug. 7 at 10:22 p.m. A 15-year-old girl was found to be a runaway from New Mexico. A man, Reginaldo Ochoa Morales, 24, of Rifle, was arrested on suspicion of aiding or abetting a minor. The girl was transferred to Department of Human Services.

Theft: On Aug. 9 at 12:08 a.m., officers investigated a report of theft from the 1000 block of Airport Road. Eugene Graham III, 24, of De Beque, was issued a summons for theft and released.

Dog bite: Officers responded to a report of a dog bite in the 300 block of Elm Avenue on Aug. 9 at 10:15 a.m. The victim was treated for injuries, the dog was placed in quarantine.

Bike stolen: On Aug. 9 at 3:01 p.m., police received a report that a bicycle had been stolen in the 1200 block of West Seventh Street.

Trespass: On Aug. 10 at 9:12 p.m.,

deputies responded to a criminal trespass call on Hogan Circle in Battlement Mesa. Ryan Michael Amonds, 27, of Battlement Mesa, was issued a summons for criminal trespass.

Warrant arrest: Deputies contacted a man in the area of Stone Quarry Road and Monument Trail in Battlement Mesa on Aug. 10 at 5:44 p.m. who had an outstanding warrant. Levi Eric Stead, 24, of Clifton, was arrested and taken to jail.

Domestic disturbance: Officers responded to a reported domestic disturbance in the 300 block of Will Avenue on Aug. 10 at 3:54 p.m. Eric Michael Montgomery, 22, of Rifle, was arrested on suspicion of harassment, domestic violence, criminal mischief and obstruction of telephone service. He was taken to jail.

Warrant arrest: Skyler Lynn Peter, 25, of Rifle, was seen by officers in the 300 block of South Ninth Street on Aug. 10 at 8:06 p.m. who knew her to have active warrants. She was arrested and taken to jail.

DUI: Officers contacted Angel Daniel-Flores, 42, of Rifle, for driving with a defective head lamp near West Centennial Parkway and West Avenue on Aug. 10 at 9:39 p.m. He was arrested on suspicion of DUI, driving without a valid driver’s license, having an open container and not wearing a seat belt. Daniel-Flores was taken to jail.

Fight leads to arrests: Police saw a large gathering of people who appeared to be fighting near the 100 block of West Fourth Street on Aug. 11 at 2:16 a.m. Richard Colten Glaze, 21, of Rifle, was arrested on suspicion of obstructing a peace officer. Audrianna Nikkohl Watson, 20, of Rifle, was issued a summons for minor in possession of alcohol. The investigation is continuing and there may be additional charges.
