Rifle Police Department & Garfield County Sheriff’s Office Crime Report – July 11, 2013

Theft: On June 27 at 9:21 a.m., officers took a report that items were stolen out of a vehicle in the 100 block of East Third Street. The case is under investigation.

Harassment: Police are investigating a disturbance that occurred in the 900 block of West Second Street on June 28 at 12:40 a.m.

Sexual contact arrest: Officers responded to the 2000 block of Railroad Avenue on Text ColorSwatch/NoneStrokeStyle/$ID/SolidText ColorSwatch/NoneStrokeStyle/$ID/SolidText ColorText ColorText ColorText ColorJune 28 at 9:22 p.m. for a report of a sexual offense. Ricardo Vasquez, 50, of Rifle, was arrested on suspicion of unlawful sexual contact and taken to jail.



Drug arrest: While investigating a 911 hang up in the 700 block of Clarkson Avenue on June 28 at 9:49 p.m., police contacted Gustado Arturo Parano, 32, of Rifle, Text ColorSwatch/NoneStrokeStyle/$ID/SolidText ColorSwatch/NoneStrokeStyle/$ID/SolidText ColorText ColorText ColorText Colorand arrested him on suspicion of being under the influence of drugs and alcohol, in possession of suspected methamphetamine and a loaded handgun by a previous offender. He was taken to jail.

Criminal mischief: On June 29 at 5:19 a.m., police took a report of trees that had been snapped in half in Centennial Park.



Sexual assault: On June 30 at 1:48 p.m.. police took a report of second degree assault and first degree sexual assault that allegedly occurred in Rifle.

Warrant arrest: While investigating a separate matter in the 200 block of East Text ColorSwatch/NoneStrokeStyle/$ID/SolidText ColorSwatch/NoneStrokeStyle/$ID/SolidText ColorText ColorText ColorText Color18th Street on June 30 at 2:50 p.m., police contacted Cathy Lanette Thomas, 42, of Rifle, who was found to have an active warrant. Order violation: Police responded to a disturbance in the 500 block of Airport Road on July 1 at 4:06 p.m. Jeffrey John Text ColorSwatch/NoneStrokeStyle/$ID/SolidText ColorSwatch/NoneStrokeStyle/$ID/SolidText ColorText ColorText ColorText ColorMasanz, 46, of Rifle, was arrested on suspicion of violation of a restraining order by consumption of alcohol. He was taken to jail.

Theft: On July 1 at 5:29 p.m., Officers received a report that a storage building in the 200 block of East Fifth Street had been broken into and items had been stolen. The case is under investigation.

Trespass: On July 1 at 5:15 p.m., deputies responded to a trespass report in the U.S. Highway 6/County Road 227 area outside Rifle. The case is closed/inactive pending further leads.

Tampering: Deputies received a traffic complaint on Tamarisk Trail in Battlement Mesa on July 1 at 6:03 p.m. Richard FrederText ColorSwatch/NoneStrokeStyle/$ID/SolidText ColorSwatch/NoneStrokeStyle/$ID/SolidText ColorText ColorText ColorText Colorick, 64, of Battlement Mesa, was arrested on suspicion of second degree tampering and obstructing a peace officer. Theft: On July 2 at 3:25 p.m. officers received a report that lockers were entered and items stolen at the Art Dague swimming pool in the 1700 block of Railroad Avenue. The case is under investigation.

Warrant arrest: Officers contacted Bryon Lee Galliher, 28, of Rifle, for a traffic violation in the 300 block of Railroad Avenue on July 2 at 10:10 p.m. Galliher was arrested for outstanding warrants and suspicion of driving under restraint.

Criminal trespass: Deputies responded to a report of criminal trespass on County Road 233 outside Silt on July 2 at 11:34 a.m. The case is inactive and closed pending further evidence.

Criminal mischief: Deputies responded to a report of criminal mischief on County Road 312 outside New Castle on July 2 at 6:02 p.m. The case remains closed pending further leads.

Pot possession: Police found a suspicious lean-to near the Colorado River and Lions Park Circle on July 3 at 1:24 p.m. Roy Valencia Chavez, 19, of Rifle, was issued a summons for possession of suspected marijuana.

DUI: Officers contacted Ruben Adam Jaramillo, 25, of Englewood, for alleged trafText ColorSwatch/NoneStrokeStyle/$ID/SolidText ColorSwatch/NoneStrokeStyle/$ID/SolidText ColorText ColorText ColorText Colorfic violations in the 1000 block of Airport Road on July 3 at 6:08 p.m. He was arrested on suspicion of driving with a revoked license and DUI. Domestic violence: Deputies responded to a domestic violence report on Hackberry Text ColorSwatch/NoneStrokeStyle/$ID/SolidText ColorSwatch/NoneStrokeStyle/$ID/SolidText ColorText ColorText ColorText ColorLane in Battlement Mesa on July 3 at 2:08 p.m. Jeffrey Martin Trevizo, 28, of Battlement Mesa, was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence, harassment and criminal mischief. He was taken to jail.

Theft: On July 4 at 3:34 p.m., police received a report of theft from the 800 block of East Fifth Street. The case is under investigation.

Criminal mischief: Officers took a report of criminal mischief in the 300 block of West Third Street on July 4 at 7:29 p.m., where property was reportedly damaged and stolen. The case is inactive pending further leads.

Attempted burglary: On July 4 at 11:17 p.m., police investigated an apparent burglary attempt in the 2400 block of Howard Avenue.

Theft: On July 5 at 8:58 a.m., police took a report that an electronic item had been stolen from a customer of a business in the 1000 block of Airport Road.

Criminal mischief: On July 5 at 7 p.m., officers took a report of criminal mischief in which a parked vehicle sustained broken windows, possibly caused by BBs, in the 400 block of West Eighth Street.

Petty theft: Police received a report of a suspicious man in a business in the 100 block of East 26th Street on July 5 at 11:45 p.m. Investigation found the man allegedly stole some items. Police obtained partial identification of the man and continue to investigate.

Fireworks summons: Deputies responded to call on West Bonanza Place in Battlement Mesa on July 6 at 10:46 p.m. Kip Dewayne Chandler, 45, was issued a summons for discharge of illegal fireworks.

Underage drinking and driving: Deputies contacted a man at the West Second Street and Colorado Highway 13 bypass intersection on July 6 at 10:49 p.m. for a traffic violation. Jorge Hernandez Trevino, 18, of Rifle, was issued summonses for driving offenses, including driving while his ability was impaired by alcohol or drugs, and illegal possession of alcohol by a minor. A passenger, Hugo Hernandez Vega, 20, was issued summonses for illegal possession or consumption of alcohol by a minor.

Warrant arrest: Deputies contacted a Text ColorSwatch/NoneStrokeStyle/$ID/SolidText ColorSwatch/NoneStrokeStyle/$ID/SolidText ColorText ColorText ColorText Colorwoman on Stone Quarry Road in Battlement Mesa on July 6 at 4:12 a.m. Amber Abramoff, 18, of DeText ColorSwatch/NoneStrokeStyle/$ID/SolidText ColorSwatch/NoneStrokeStyle/$ID/SolidText ColorText ColorText ColorText Color Beque, was arrested on an active warrant and taken to jail.

Order violation: Deputies contacted a Text ColorSwatch/NoneStrokeStyle/$ID/SolidText ColorSwatch/NoneStrokeStyle/$ID/SolidText ColorText ColorText ColorText Colorman in the 700 block of Taughenbaugh Boulevard in Rifle on July 7 at 4:36 p.m. Carlos Juan Alan, 26, of Rifle, was arrested on suspicion of violation of a restraining order and on an active warrant. He was taken to jail.

Vehicles targeted: Police received several reports of vehicle trespass and thefts from the Palomino Park area on July 7. They are under investigation.

Theft: Police received a report of a stolen license plate in the 1000 block of Airport Road on July 7 at 4:52 p.m.

Burglary: Officers took a report of a residential burglary in the 700 block of Elder Court on July 7 at 9:54 p.m. Suspects have been identified and this case is under investigation.

Shoplifting: Police responded to a shoplifting report in the 100 block of East 26th Street on July 7 at 11:51 p.m. The case is under investigation.

Fake license: Deputies stopped a vehicle near exit 111 on I-70 on July 8 at 9:04 a.m. Jose Manuel Villagrana, 25, of Rifle, was issued a summons for allegedly having a fake license plate.
