Rifle Police Department & Garfield County Sheriff’s Office Crime Report – Oct. 24, 2013

Editor’s note: The Rifle Police Department and Garfield County Sheriff’s Office reports the following incidents and arrests. Summonses or arrests merely indicate an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless found guilty in court.

Arson fire: On Oct. 21 at 2:49 a.m., officers from the Rifle Police Department responded to an alarm at Rocky Mountain Liquors, 1735 Railroad Ave., in Rifle. They found the front of the store engulfed in fire. The fire was contained but caused considerable damage and is suspected to be arson-caused.

Dog bite: On Oct. 5 at 6:59 p.m., police took a report of a dog bite that occurred in the 2100 block of Acacia Avenue.

DUI: Deputies made a traffic stop in the 2700 block of South Grand Avenue in Glenwood Springs on Oct. 6 at 2:10 a.m. Ian Vinson Wallick, 24, of Rifle, was arrested on suspicion of DUI, driving with an excessive alcohol content, possession while under the influence and speeding. He was taken to jail.

Warrant arrest: Deputies contacted a woman in her home on U.S. Highway 6 east of Rifle on Oct. 6 at 11:46 p.m. for a misdemeanor warrant. Kimberly Ann Godeski, 40, of Rifle, was arrested and taken to jail.

Warrant arrest: On Oct. 6 at 1:10 a.m., officers saw Loyd Edward Fuller, 28, of Silt, in the 100 block of East First Street and knew he had active warrants. Fuller was arrested and taken to jail.

Disorderly conduct: Police contacted a man who was urinating in public in the 100 block of West Fourth Street on Oct. 6 at 1:56 a.m. Andrew Paul Richards, 23, of Oberlion, Kan., was given a citation for disorderly conduct and released.

Order violation: Police received a report of a restraining order violation in the 900 block of West Fifth Street on Oct. 6 at 1:48 p.m. Edward Neil Bugay, 52, of Rifle, was arrested on suspicion of violation of a restraining order and taken to jail.

Assault report: Police responded to a report of an assault in the 700 block of Elder Court on Oct. 6 at 8:26 p.m. Due to lack of cooperation by the victim, no charges were filed.

Criminal mischief: On Oct. 7 at 6:13 p.m., police took a report of a vehicle that was allegedly damaged while it was parked in the 1300 block of Railroad Avenue.

Disorderly conduct: On Oct. 7 at 8:12 p.m., officers arrested George Russell Hoskovec, 60, a transient, for suspicion of urinating on the sidewalk in the 100 block of West Fourth Street. He was taken to jail.

Warrant arrest: Deputies responded to a call on U.S. Highway 6 east of Rifle on Oct. 8 at 12:33 a.m. Ella Renee Turner, 51, was arrested on an active warrant and taken to jail.

Domestic arrest: Deputies responded to a domestic disturbance on County Road 214 outside Silt on Oct. 11 at 8:09 p.m. Desirae Suzann Martinez, 20, of Rifle, was arrested on suspicion of criminal mischief, first degree trespass, illegal possession or consumption of alcohol by a minor, harassment and resisting arrest. She was taken to jail.

Pot possession: Deputies contacted a man on U.S. Highway 6 outside New Castle on Oct. 15 at 8:29 p.m. for alleged drug possession in the Silt area. A summons for possession of marijuana was issued to Alex Longairc, 18, of New Castle.

Domestic arrest: Deputies responded to a disturbance on U.S. Highway 6 east of Rifle on Oct. 15 at 6:33 a.m. John Henry Godeski, 37, of Rifle, was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence, criminal mischief, harassment, resisting arrest, and was taken to jail.

Stolen vehicle: On Oct. 16 at 3:05 p.m., deputies took a report of a stolen vehicle in the 900 block of Mesa Drive near Rifle. The case is inactive/closed pending further leads.

Hunting incident: Deputies responded to a search and rescue request for a hunting-related incident on County Road 273 outside Rifle on Oct. 18 at 1:14 p.m. A man was airlifted from the area by a Careflight helicopter.

Warrant arrest: Deputies responded to an agency assist near Rifle on Oct. 18 at 7:53 p.m. Randy Reicheneker, 26, of Grand Junction, was arrested on an active warrant and taken to jail.

Harassment: Deputies responded to the Garfield County Jail, 107 Eighth St. in Glenwood Springs, on Oct. 19 at 7:16 p.m. Richard Frederick Wille, 64, of Parachute, was issued a summons for harassment.

Burglary arrest: Deputies responded to a disturbance on County Road 335 outside New Castle on Oct. 20 at 10:13 p.m. Stacia Smith, 20, of New Castle, was arrested on an active warrant and for suspicion of illegal possession or consumption of alcohol by a minor, second degree burglary and criminal mischief. She was taken to jail.

Theft: Deputies responded to a report of criminal mischief and theft on County Road 214 outside New Castle on Oct. 20 at 9:59 a.m. The case remains open and under investigation.
