Rifle Police Department & Garfield County Sheriff’s Office Crime Report – Sept. 19, 2013

Editor’s note: The Rifle Police Department and Garfield County Sheriff’s Office reports the following incidents and arrests. Summonses or arrests merely indicate an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless found guilty in court.

Warrant arrest: Officers responded to a report of a man with an active arrest warrant in the 200 block of East 18th Street on Aug. 27 at 1:18 p.m. Charles Lee Disney, 53, of Rifle, was arrested and taken to jail.

Tools stolen: On Aug. 27 at 1:59 p.m., police took a report of the theft of tools from the 300 block of South Seventh Street.

DUI: Police stopped a REDDI-reported vehicle in the 1200 block of Railroad Avenue on Aug. 27 at 2:06 p.m. The driver, Lynda Louise Schell, 60, of Parachute, was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

Bike equipment stolen: On Aug. 28 at 10:31 a.m., officers investigated a report of theft of bicycle equipment from a yard in the 100 block of East 12th Street.

Theft: Police responded to a report of theft at Walmart, 1000 Airport Road, on Aug. 28 at 5:02 p.m. A suspect had reportedly damaged items and concealed items. A warrant was sought and Cathy Lanette Thomas, 42, of Rifle, was later arrested on suspicion of theft, criminal mischief and first degree burglary. She was taken to jail.

DUID: Officers contacted a man driving carelessly in the 100 block of East First Street on Aug. 29 at 12:59 a.m. Geoffrey Michael Brown, 22, of Rifle, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.

Assault: On Aug. 29 at 11:16 a.m., officers investigated a report of assault in the 700 block of Birch Avenue.

Disorderly arrest: Police observed what appeared to be a disturbance in the 400 block of Railroad Avenue on Aug. 30 at 12:24 a.m. Upon approach, John Andrew Davidson, 35, of Rifle, allegedly became combative with officers. He was arrested and taken to jail on suspicion of disorderly conduct, obstructing a peace officer and reckless endangerment.

Warrant arrest: Officers responded to the 200 block of East 18th Street on Aug. 30 at 9:08 a.m. for a report of a person with a warrant. Corey Christian McCraney, 22, of Rifle, was arrested and taken to jail.

Bike theft: On Aug. 30 at 7:48 p.m., police took a report of a stolen bicycle from the 2000 block of Acacia Avenue.

Trespass: Officers responded to a call of a trespass in progress at Walmart, 1000 Airport Road, on Aug. 30 at 9:05 p.m. Cathy Lanette Thomas, 42, of Rifle, had been previously told she was banned from the property. Thomas was arrested on suspicion of trespass and later released with a summons.

Drug arrest: Police contacted a vehicle in the 200 block of West Fourth Street on Sept. 1 at 10:14 p.m. for equipment violations. Corrine Jannell Hudson, 22, of Rifle, was arrested and taken to jail on suspicion of the distribution/manufacture/dispensing controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Cash stolen: Police responded to Walmart, 1000 Railroad Ave., on Sept. 2 at 6:20 p.m. for a report of burglary and theft of a large amount of cash. A suspect has been identified and the investigation continues.

Warrant arrest: Police responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle near East Avenue and West 25th Street on Sept. 2 at 7:19 p.m. Lloyd Edward Fuller, 28, of New Castle, was arrested for two warrants and taken to jail.

Disorderly conduct: Police contacted two juvenile girls fighting at Rifle High School, 1350 Prefontaine Ave., on Sept. 3 at 10:16 a.m. The case is under investigation.

Drugs stolen: On Sept. 3 at 12:41 p.m., officers took a report of the theft of prescription narcotics from a residence in the 700 block of Elder Court.

False reporting: On Sept. 3 at 2:42 p.m., police received a report that Jeremy John Trujillo, 38, and Kristie Lynn Garcia, 34, both of Rifle, had watched a family member egg their car. Investigation found the accused family member could not have been in the area of the vehicle at the time of the alleged act. Trujillo and Garcia were charged with false reporting.

Theft arrest: Police were called to Walmart, 1000 Airport Road, on Sept. 3 at 3:06 p.m. for a report of shoplifting. Terry Lynn Owens, 50, of DeBeque, was charged with theft.

Harassment arrest: Police responded to a harassment in the 200 block of West Avenue on Sept. 3 at 6:14 p.m. Kristie Lynn Garcia, 34, of Rifle, was arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest and three counts of harassment and taken to jail.

Drug paraphernalia: Police contacted Cathy Lanette Thomas, 42, of Rifle, in the 200 block of Railroad Avenue on Sept. 3 at 8:52 p.m. She was known to have an active warrant. During arrest, Thomas was allegedly found to be in possession and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Order violation: Police took a report of harassment and a restraining order violation in the 600 block of Wapiti Court on Sept. 3 at 11:54 p.m.

Knife at RMS: Two students were found with a knife at Rifle Middle School, 753 Railroad Ave., on Sept. 4 at 4:46 p.m. Both 10-year-old boys were charged with prohibited use of weapons.

Drug arrest: Police contacted Robert Daniel Kitchens, 29, of Glenwood Springs, for a traffic violation in the 100 block of West Second Street on Sept. 4 at 9:25 p.m. Kitchens allegedly fled the scene on foot and was apprehended a short time later, then arrested on suspicion of obstructing a police officer, possession of a controlled substance, possession with the intent to distribute, DUI and having an open container of alcohol. He was taken to jail.

Domestic violence: On Sept. 4 at 7:15 p.m., police investigated allegations of a domestic violence incident that occurred in the 200 block of East Avenue.

Minor in possession: Police contacted Yesica Varela-Munoz,19, of Rifle, in the 800 block of Birch Avenue on Sept. 7 at 7:15 p.m., who was allegedly found to be under the influence of alcohol. She was charged with minor in possession of alcohol.

DUI: Officers contacted a vehicle for a traffic violation in the 100 block of West Third Street on Sept. 7 at 2:07 a.m. The driver, Jolynn Amy Jensen, 26, of Rifle, was arrested on suspicion of DUI and taken to jail.

Pot arrest: Police contacted a vehicle for a traffic violation in the 100 block of West 14th Street on Sept. 7 at 2:51 a.m. The driver, Marcus Antonio-Arroyo, 20, of Rifle, was allegedly found to be under the influence of drugs and in possession of suspected marijuana and paraphernalia. He was arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of drugs, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia and taken to jail.
