Rifle police & Garfield County Sheriff’s Office Crime Report – May 30, 2013

Warrant arrest: Officers responded to the 1400 block of East Seventh Street on May 15 at 12:01 p.m. to find a woman who had an arrest warrant. Laura Kay Gonzales, 36, of Rifle, was arrested, then released on bond.

Resisting arrest: Text ColorSwatch/NoneStrokeStyle/$ID/SolidText ColorSwatch/NoneStrokeStyle/$ID/SolidText ColorText ColorText ColorText ColorPolice responded to the 300 block of West 25th Street on May 16 at 9:31 p.m. for a report of a domestic disturbance. Zachary Michael Madden, 20, of Rifle, was arrested on two felony warrants and on suspicion of criminal impersonation and resisting arrest. Harassment: Deputies responded to a disturbance in the 200 block of Black Hawk Trail in Battlement Mesa on May 17 at 9:25 p.m. Jose Antonio Garcia, 53, of Battlement Mesa, was arrested on suspicion of harassment.

Criminal mischief: On May 17 at 4:10 a.m., officers received a report of a storefront window broken and another damaged in the 300 block of Railroad Avenue. The case is under investigation.

Shoplifting: Police responded to a report of theft at Walmart, 1000 Airport Road, on May 17 at 4:16 a.m. Abie Montoya, 44, of Rifle, was issued a citation for petty theft.

Broken windows: On May 17 at 5:06 a.m., officers noticed several windows damaged at a business in the 300 block of Railroad Avenue.

Warrant arrest: Police were in the 400 block of West 26th Street on May 17 at 11:03 a.m. when they contacted Katelyn Louise Ludwig, 22, of Rifle, who had an Text ColorSwatch/NoneStrokeStyle/$ID/SolidText ColorSwatch/NoneStrokeStyle/$ID/SolidText ColorText ColorText ColorText Coloractive warrant. Driving arrest: Officers contacted a vehicle in the 300 block of South Ninth Street on May 17 at 10:24 p.m. for a traffic violation. Ruben Jaramillo, 25, of New Castle, was arrested on suspicion of careless driving and driving under revocation.

Burglary: Deputies took a report of a burglary in the 100 block of Lodgepole Circle in Battlement Mesa on May 18 at 12:32 a.m. The case is closed pending further leads.

Domestic disturbance: Police are investigating a domestic disturbance that occurred in several Rifle locations on May 18 at 1:49 p.m. A warrant was obtained for a suspect.

DUI: Officers received a REDDI report from the 1200 block of Railroad Avenue on May 18 at 8:42 p.m. Mauricio Avalos-Fuentes of Rifle was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

Order violations: Deputies responded to a call of violation of restraining order in Battlement Mesa on May 19 at 11:13 p.m. Carrie Ann Kalaher, 41, of Battlement Mesa, was arrested on suspicion of violation of a restraining order and bail bond conditions. She was taken to jail.

Driving offenses: A deputy stopped a vehicle in Rifle for a traffic violation on May 19 at 6:21 p.m. The driver, David Allen Phelps, 49, of Rifle, was issued a summons for no proof of insurance and having an invalid license plate.

Warrant arrest: Officers contacted Cody Allen Smith, 22, of Rifle, in the 1700 block Text ColorSwatch/NoneStrokeStyle/$ID/SolidText ColorSwatch/NoneStrokeStyle/$ID/SolidText ColorText ColorText ColorText Colorof Railroad Avenue on May 19 at 2:57 a.m. Smith was arrested for an outstanding warrant and on suspicion of violating a restraining order. Order violation: Text ColorSwatch/NoneStrokeStyle/$ID/SolidText ColorSwatch/NoneStrokeStyle/$ID/SolidText ColorText ColorText ColorText ColorDuring a separate investigation on May 19 at 9:23 p.m., officers contacted Corey Christian McCraney, 21, of Rifle, who was allegedly found to be in violation of a restraining order by consuming alcohol. He was arrested and taken to jail.

Obstruction arrest: Officers responded to report of a disturbance in the 3000 block of Coal Mine Avenue on May 19 at 10:06 p.m. Ashlynn Sanchez-Kauffman, 20, of Rifle, was arrested and released with a summons for minor in possession of alcohol and suspicion of obstructing a peace officer.

Abie Montoya, 44, of Rifle, was arrested on suspicion of criminal trespass and taken to jail.

Theft: On May 20 at 11:51 a.m., deputies took a report of theft in the 900 block of Quick Silver Way outside Rifle

Criminal mischief: On May 20 at 2:19 p.m., deputies were notified of a criminal mischief on Hackberry Lane in Battlement Mesa. The case is closed pending any new leads.

Order violation: Text ColorSwatch/NoneStrokeStyle/$ID/SolidText ColorSwatch/NoneStrokeStyle/$ID/SolidText ColorText ColorText ColorText ColorPolice received a report of a protection order violation in the 200 block of East 18th Street on May 20 at 11:10 a.m. Daniel Jeffrey Thomas, 33, of Meeker, was arrested on suspicion of violation of a restraining order and was taken to jail.

Theft: On May 20 at 5:59 p.m., police took a report of an electronic item had been stolen from a business in the 1200 block of Access Road.

Harassment: Officers took a report of harassment in the 400 block of Columbine Drive on May 20 at 7:31 p.m. The case is under investigation.

Theft: On May 21 at 9:04 a.m., deputies took a report of theft on County Road 335 outside New Castle. Another report was taken a short time later on County Road 245 outside New Castle.

Vandalism: On May 21 at 1:28 p.m., deputies took a report of vandalism that occurred on Village Drive outside Rifle.

Harassment: Deputies responded to a call in the 300 block of Tamarisk Trail in Battlement Mesa on May 22 at 6:02 p.m. Kimberly Kay Orth, 47, of Silt, was issued a summons for harassment.

Animal complaint: Deputies responded to an animal complaint on Colorado Highway 325 north of Rifle on May 22 at 6:04 p.m. The owner, Holly Marie Harlin, 31, of Rifle, was located and issued a summons for having a nuisance animal and lack of a license for her dog.

Assault arrest: Text ColorSwatch/NoneStrokeStyle/$ID/SolidText ColorSwatch/NoneStrokeStyle/$ID/SolidText ColorText ColorText ColorText ColorDeputies responded to an incident on County Road 335 outside Rifle on May 22 at 11:57 a.m. Elifonsa Villagomez-Derios, 45, of New Castle, was arrested on suspicion of third degree assault and domestic violence and was taken to jail.

Traffic arrests: Deputies made a traffic stop on May 22 at 8:22 p.m. near County Roads 293 and 294. Jaime Moreno-Quintana, 25, of Rifle, was arrested on suspicion of identity theft, possession of a fake and forged document, having expired license plates, violation of a restraining order and on an active arrest warrant. Lucia Guadalupe Martinez, 24, of Rifle, was arrested on suspicion of criminal impersonation. Both were taken to jail.

Criminal mischief: Deputies took a report of a criminal mischief on Little Echo Drive in Battlement Mesa on May 23 at 10:56 p.m.

Drug paraphernalia: Deputies responded to a call of someone in the roadway outside Rifle on May 23 at 1:02 a.m. Kate Lyn Crosby-Blakeway, 31, of Rifle, was issued a summons for possession of drug paraphernalia.

DUI: Deputies made a traffic stop near County Roads 309 and 301 outside Parachute on May 24 at 10:18 p.m. Robert Louis Healy, Jr., 62, of Battlement Mesa, was arrested on suspicion of DUI, having an open alcoholic beverage in his vehicle and failure to drive in a single lane. He was taken to jail.

Underage drinking: Deputies contacted two people on County Road 302 outside Parachute on May 25 at 11:41 p.m. Artemio P. Baltazar, Jr., 19, of Parachute, and a juvenile were both issued summonses for illegal possession or consumption of alcohol by an underage person.

DUI: Deputies made a traffic stop near Rifle on May 25 at 2:09 a.m. Daniel Meraz-Maciel, 23, of Gypsum, was arrested on suspicion of DUI, driving with excessive alcohol content, having an open alcoholic beverage in his vehicle, speeding and failing to drive in a single lane. He was taken to jail.

Theft: Deputies took a report of a theft incident on Colorado Highway 325 north of Rifle on May 26 at 9:24 a.m.

Underage drinking: Deputies contacted three youths on U.S. Highway 6 east of Rifle on May 26 at 9:26 p.m. Armando Renova Ornelas, 19, of Rifle; Eleazar Munoz-Torres, 19, of Frisco; and a third juvenile were each issued summonses for illegal possession or consumption of alcohol by an underage person.

Order violation: Deputies responded to a possible restraining order violation in the 100 block of Silver Queen Circle in Battlement Mesa on May 26 at 12:27 a.m. Richard Frederick Wille, 64, of Battlement Mesa, was arrested on suspicion of harassment and violation of a restraining order. He was taken to jail.
