Rifle resident dies under unusual circumstances

At 12:06 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, the Rifle Police Department responded to a call of a man in distress at the intersection of Third Street and Railroad Avenue in Rifle, according to a news release.

The man, later identified as Anthony Green of Rifle, was screaming when police arrived and in apparent distress. Minor facial abrasions were observed, but Green had no apparent major injuries.

Green then became non-responsive, an ambulance was called and CPR begun. Green was taken to Grand River Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Family members have been notified of the death. No further information is available at this time.
