The first Rifle Rodeo is in the books and despite a few delays the well-attended event kicked off what is sure to be a great season. Rodeos will be ongoing at the Garfield County Fairgrounds all summer with the GarCo Summer Rodeo Series on Mondays from 5-10 p.m.

Monday’s rodeo began the season with a special tribute to cowboy and friend of the rodeo Court Will, who passed earlier this spring. The tribute to Will included a commemorative ride around the ring by all of the competitors in honor of his love for the sport and fans, as well as a moment of silence from everyone in attendance.

A statement from his family asked everyone in attendance to honor his memory by being generous, going the extra mile and always opening the door for anyone.
