Rifle’s Masi Smith wins Cobble Creek Invitational

One day after finishing second to Grand Junction’s Brittlyn O’Dell at Cobble Creek Golf Course in Montrose, Rifle senior Masi Smith turned around on Wednesday and won by four strokes, shooting a +5, while O’Dell shot a +9.

Smith helped the Bears finish sixth with a team score of +78, as Durango and Dolores High School tied for first with a team score of +55 on the day. Grand Junction and Fruita Monument tied for third with a team score of +57, while the Coal Ridge Titans placed ninth with a team score of +107.

For Rifle, joining Smith on the leaderboard was Breanna Seay with a round of +29 to finish tied for 21st, while Caroline Hays placed 37th with a round of +44. Coal Ridge saw Jaelyn Price tie for 24th with a round of +32, while Isabelle Brintall placed tied for 28th with a round of +34. Grace Gonzalez closed out the day for the Titans with a round of +41, finishing tied for 34th.

Coal Ridge and Rifle girls golf return to action Monday, April 8 at Grand Junction.
