Synergy nets state champs at summer gymnastics meet

HIGHLANDS RANCH — Three members of the Level 5 Synergy Gymnastics Team won state championships this past summer at the Xcel State Gymnastics Meet.

The athletes competed at the Peak Athletics facility against 22 other teams in late June and early July. Synergy is coached by Lori Snyder of Rifle.

Cipriana Dacuma had the best individual performance at the meet. Her score of 9.45 on the balance beam earned her first place, and she netted a first-place score of 36.85 in her division’s all-around competition.

Sheridan Ottosen scored a 9.6 on the uneven bars to tie for first place in her division, and her combined scores on uneven bars, balance beam, vault and floor exercise earned her a second-place finish in the all-around.

Madalynne Valencia earned a first-place finish in her age group’s balance beam event and second place in all-around competition.

Competing at Level 3 was Kaitlyn Johnson, who finished first on the balance beam with a score of 9.825.
