Citizen Telegram contributor Jerimie Richardson is working on a historical story about an elephant that escaped in the Rifle area around 1952. After escaping, the elephant was shot and local residents at the time posed for pictures with the dead animal. Anyone alive at the time with memories of the incident can contact The Telegram at 685-2103 or email Jerimie Richardson directly at carterrte83@yahoo.com.
