Six Two Rivers-area nonprofits will receive grant funding from the newly established Two Rivers Unrestricted Endowment Fund (T.R.U.E), a local community fund, managed by the Western Colorado Community Foundation (WCCF).

A total of 24 nonprofits serving the area from Carbondale to New Castle applied for funding this year, according to a press release.

The following organizations received grant awards at the monthly board meeting of the Two Rivers Community Foundation at a Nov. 12 check presentation reception.

• River Center of New Castle: Totes of Hope and Meal Monkey programs

• Smiling Goat Ranch: Healing horse therapy for veterans

• Stepping Stones of the Roaring Fork Valley: Technology for youth center

According to the release, the Two Rivers Fund was established as an endowed, permanent fund by local community leaders in the Two Rivers area. Two Rivers partners with the Western Colorado Community Foundation to build the endowment and distribute the earnings annually.

“We see the great need for this funding and are building this endowment, so it is here for our community well into the future,” Jake Lasko, chairman for the Two Rivers Community Foundation, said.
