Unusual strengths and skills

Amy Sanchez
Third grader at Highland Elementary

Editors note: The Citizen Telegram is teaming with Highland Elementary School to publish and recognize a selected writing sample from one student each month of the 2015-16 school year. This month’s sample was in response to a prompt posed to students after reading the story, “Medusa.” students were asked Which character from the story did they think had the most unusual strengths and skills?

I think that Medusa has the most unusual strengths and skills for several reasons.

To begin, she is just like a snake. For example, she has green scaly skin. Also, she has sharp teeth. A lot of people might think this is scary and would not like to live in her town or city.

Secondly, if you look into her eyes you turn into stone. In the text it states, “If you dare to look at her you will turn into stone.” She probably has a lot of stoned people.

Last, she is evil! She is evil because she is merciless. In the text it said, “The snakes had sharp teeth, too, and she would use them without pity.”

As you can see, Medusa is the character with the most unusual skills, and she is also scary.
