Wesley Robert Downey

Wesley Robert Downey passed away at his home with family by his side on February 18, 2016. He was born August 22, 1933, to Amelia and Norman Downey.

He joined the Marines in September of 1951 and served in the Korean War. After his years in the service he married Lois Downey and they resided in Rifle where they raised 3 kids and he established a very successful contracting company. Lois preceded him in death in 2005.

In the summertime you could find him on the golf course enjoying a good round of golf. He enjoyed tinkering in the garage and fixing things. He could make something old run like new.

He is survived by his two sons, Steven Downey and Doug Downey. One daughter, Teresa (David) Beecraft. Two grandchildren, Brian (Alisha) Beecraft and Savannah (Jason) Conklin. Four great-grandchildren, Brooke and Trey Beecraft and Liam and Asher Conklin.

A graveside service is planned for Thursday, February 25, at Rose Hill Cemetery at 1:00 pm.
