What Happened?
• Both Grand Valley boys and girls basketball teams reached the second round of the 3A state tournament his past weekend, falling in their respective regional championship games in the Colorado Springs area this past Saturday. The Grand Valley boys ended their season with a 15-10 record, following a 62-19 loss to Colorado Springs Christian School, and the Grand Valley girls, who finished the season 18-6, watched as Manitou Springs rallied from a 17-14 halftime deficit to win 42-37.
• Rifle High’s baseball team began the season 1-1. The Bears started the season with a 12-1 loss to Thomas Jefferson on March 8, but they rebounded on March 10 with a 4-0 victory over Hotchkiss. Bailey Hoffmeister pitched a six-hit shutout in the victory.
