What’s Happening?
• Grand Valley, Coal Ridge and Rifle will each send runners to the Class 4A and 3A State Championships on Saturday in Colorado Springs. Rifle will send Brenden Wagler, who finished 12th in the Class 4A regional meet in Delta to earn a state meet berth. Also making it at the 3A level were Noah Crisler of Coal Ridge (10th), Joel Carrasco of Grand Valley (11th) and Sam Jorgenson of Coal Ridge (15th). The top 15 individuals automatically qualify for the state meet.
• Coal Ridge and Grand Valley each dropped their football games this past Friday, with the Titans falling 28-6 to Basalt and Grand Valley losing a 35-26 decision at home against Aspen. The Titans (0-8, 0-6 Class 2A Western Slope League) and Cardinals (1-7, 1-5) will play their final game of the season against each other at 7 p.m. Friday at the Coal Ridge High School football field.
