Add Evans to list of winners

Add Mallory Evans’ name to the list of winners.

Evans, of New Castle, won the girls 12-13 division of the Mountain District Hoop Shoot contest recently.

The competition was hosted by Rifle Elks Lodge No. 2195.

Evans name was inadvertently omitted from the list of winners which appeared last week.

Youngsters from Aspen, Craig, Glenwood Springs, Gunnison, Leadville, Rangely, Rifle, Salida and Summit County participated in the district free-throw shooting competition.

The district winners, including Evans, qualified for the state competition, scheduled this year for Feb. 23 at Salida. To reach the Salida state shootout, Evans hit 19-of-25 free throws in the Rifle district competition.

The other winners of the district honors included Kevin Flohr of Glenwood Springs in the boys 8-9 division and McKenzie Kuhn of Glenwood in the girls 8-9 division. For boys 10-11, Justin Gomez of Salida won. Sydney Cook of Rifle won the 10-11 girls division.

Evan Hertzog of Craig was the boys 12-13 winner.
