Annual Mt. Sopris Runoff takes place July 26

The 36th-annual Mt. Sopris Runoff and 4-mile Fair Run will take place on July 26 in conjunction with Carbondale Mountain Fair.

The run features a 14-mile run from the Emma School House in Basalt to Sopris Park in Carbondale. It climbs 1,500 feet in elevation before descending 1,700 feet down Prince Creek Road by the time it reaches Carbondale Mountain Fair. Start time is 7:30 a.m., with race-day registration starting at 6:30 a.m.

In the 4-mile Fair Run, racers will be bused up Prince Creek Road for a mostly downhill race. Racers meet at Sopris Park at 7:15 a.m., with the race beginning at 7:45 a.m.

Cost is $30, with the first 100 entrants receiving a T-shirt and a goodie bag. All entrants will be entered into a post-race raffle, which will take place in Sopris Park.
