Tami Holt, the defending Rifle Creek Cowgirl Shootout champion, is well on her way to earning her second straight title.

Play resumes this morning at 8:30 a.m. at the Rifle Creek Golf Course with Holt, of Glenwood Springs, holding a four-stroke lead over Mary Danielson of Denver. Holt shot a two-over par round of 74 on Saturday.

Danielson finished Saturday’s first day of competition with a 78, six shots ahead of Char Fields of Grand Junction, currently third entering the second day of the annual 36-hole ladies’ tournament.

Another Glenwood Springs resident, Erin Galbreath, led the 1st Flight with a first-day total of 86. Pam Burger’s 84 puts the Rifle resident in the lead of the 2nd Flight.

Lu Ann Pieffer from Rifle is the leader of the 3rd Flight with Gloria Pace of Delta heading up the 4th Flight.

The four-person team of Luke Antonelli, Carol Langhardt, Gail Steiner and Melody Caldwell won Friday’s low-am tournament with a combined score of 114.

The team of Robert Choate, Dolly Moreno, Sharon Dawe and Vicki Potter took second-place with a 116, three shots better than the foursome of Kirk Swallow, Kay Havner, Marj Fleming and Julie Ignaszewski’s combined round of 119.

Final scores of all low-am teams are determined by each team’s two lowest net scores, including individual handicaps.
