Area golfers impress at Rifle invite
Glenwood Springs, CO Colorado
Coal Ridge’s Craig Spaulding carded an 80 to lead Garfield County swingers at Monday’s Rifle-High hosted boys golf tournament at Rifle Creek Golf Course.
Spaulding was tailed closely by Roaring Fork’s Arick Zeigel, who shot an 81. Spaulding’s teammate, Casey Lawrence, posted an 83, as did Rifle’s Klayton Costanzo.
Winning the tournament with a 77 was Eagle Valley’s Nick Bontempo. Bontempo’s Devils claimed the team title, combining on a 246.
Coal Ridge finished third and Rifle took fifth in the team standings. Glenwood Springs was not in attendance.
Rifle’s Hogan Peterson shot 85, while Grand Valley’s Jeremy Lawrence and Dylan Walters finished with 87 and 89, respectively.
Next on the schedule for local teams is Monday’s The Hill Invitational at Glenwood Springs Golf Club.

The Coal Ridge High boys suffered their first 3A Western Slope League loss of the year Thursday night on the road at Gunnison, falling to the defending league champion Cowboys 65-45.
