Area hoopsters earn all-state honors

The Roaring Fork Rams landed a pair of basketball players on the Rocky Mountain News Class 3A All-State teams. The newspaper announced its selections recently, including the 3A girls player of the year in Tarn Udall.

Udall, a senior post, led the 3A in rebounds. She was joined on the all-state squad by second-team selection Lauren Redfern of Basalt.

Roaring Fork senior forward Dan Markoya earned a spot on the Class 3A boys first team after helping the Rams to a third-place finish at the state tournament.

In Class 4A boys, Glenwood Springs junior Sean Flohr was the only area selection, earning honorable mention honors. Flohr was one of 10 juniors selected honorable mention. The first- and second-team all-state picks were all seniors.

Rifle senior Krista Wagstrom earned Class 4A girls honorable mention kudos. Wagstrom has signed to play next season at Mesa State College.

Grand Valley’s boys and girls teams each had a member selected for Class 2A honorable mention accolades. Senior Holly Steltzlen was named to the girls team and senior Chris Johnson landed on the boys squad.
