New Castle resident Alice McKennis tied for 27th place at Saturday’s U.S. Alpine Championships women’s super-G held at Mammoth Mountain Resort, Calif.

McKennis, 15, finished with a time of 1 minute, 27.43 seconds. The field consisted of 65 racers.

In Friday’s women’s downhill, McKennis was 44th in 1:39.60.

The women’s slalom is set for today, and the giant slalom is Monday.

The Glenwood Springs High School cheerleading program presents an informational meeting preceding tryout clinics, for interested students and their parents.

The meeting is Monday at 5:30 p.m. in the high school’s multipurpose room. Topics include details of the 2005-06 program, squad tryouts and next year’s schedule.
