The first Run For Your Life race and fun run is slated for Saturday, June 4, in Carbondale.

The event consists of a 4-mile run and a 1-mile fun run, starting and finishing at Triangle Park. All races start at 8:15 a.m.

There will be seven age categories, with awards going to the top three men and women in each age group. Finishers will qualify for a raffle to win prizes and gift certificates to local restaurants for a special heart-healthy meal.

All proceeds from the event benefit the Glenwood Springers Track Club and the Valley View Hospital Foundation’s new Cardiac and Vascular Center.

The Strawberry Days tennis tournament for junior and adult players will be June 15-19, with singles, doubles and mixed-doubles tournaments in a number of different age and ability levels. Entry forms are available at the Glenwood Springs Community Center.

Anyone interested in umpiring youth baseball or softball and adult softball should contact the Carbondale Recreation Department at 704-4115.
