Area Sports Briefs

An informational meeting about the Glenwood Springers youth summer club track program will take place at 7 tonight in the Glenwood Springs Middle School Cafetorium.

The track club is open to boys and girls 8-18 years old.

Registrations will be available at the meeting and the first week of practice. The first practice of the season is May 31.

The Glenwood Springs High School Demon Cards, used to raise money for GSHS athletics, are still sponsored through Varsity Gold. If there is any question whether a fund-raising solicitation is legitimately connected with Glenwood Springs High School, call GSHS at 384-5555.



Jesse Matteson carded a hole-in-one Saturday on the 215-yard No. 9 hole at Lakota Canyon Ranch Golf Club.

Ken Matteson and Martin Koeltzow witnessed the shot.

Glenwood Springs triple jumper Chris Benson set a personal-best mark of 44 feet, 21⁄4 inches at the Class 4A state track meet held last weekend in Aurora. The Mark was good for seventh place and a state medal. Incorrect information appeared in Sunday’s paper.
