Mark Northcut, of Rifle, with teammate Cort Wilt, of Silt, had the highest point average among team calf ropers at the ZD Truck Roping sponsored event recently in West Jordan, Utah.

The Glenwood Springs Soccer Club is accepting registrations from players ages 4-7 for the upcoming fall season. Registration forms can be picked up in the front lobby of the Glenwood Springs Library or by contacting the soccer club at 945-6091.

The second annual Longhorn Stampede, a 5K race in Basalt, is slated for Saturday, Aug. 27. Registration for the race will be from 7:30-8:20 a.m. on race day, with the race starting at 8:30 a.m. from Basalt High School. Proceeds from the event benefit the Basalt High School cross-country program.

Five players posted the lowest scores at a Glenwood Springs Men’s golf club event held Aug. 16. Devin Donaghue and Ron Nadon posted the best marks in the A Flight’s Gross and Net divisions. Joe Luetke and Steve Williams tied for the best score among B Flight gross score players at 39. Delwyn Fletcher carded the best net score among B Flight golfers.

Connor Rakowski, of Basalt High School, finished with a 77 and tied for ninth place in the overall individual scores at Tuesday’s Grand Junction Central Invitational at Bookcliff County Club. His result was omitted from a story in Wednesday’s Post Independent.
