Openings available on youth track team



Area youths, ages 8-18 interested in running for the Glenwood Springers youth club track team can register at 4 p.m. today-Thursday at the Glenwood Springs High School track.

Team practices are held from 4-6 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays in June and July. Cost is $75. Family discounts and scholarships are available.

Area swimmers earn medals

Quincey Snyder of the Rifle Stingrays and Lily Thorson, swimming for the Sopris Barracudas had the only first-place times among area participants at Saturday’s Stingray meet, held at Rifle’s Municipal Pool.

Snyder, 12, won the 11-12 year-old girls 50 yard butterfly in 34.94 seconds. She was the runner-up in the 50 freestyle and took fourth place in the breaststroke and individual medley events.

Thorson,8, clocked the fastest time – 18.86 – in the 8 and-under girls 25 yard freestyle.

Former Glenwood Springs High School swimmer, Lyndsay Snyder, competing for the Stingrays, had two second place and two third-place marks in the girls 15-18 competition.
