The annual Tri-Glenwood Triathlon is looking for members of the community to act as volunteers for the Saturday, Sept. 11, event. Each volunteer receives a long-sleeve race T-shirt and a ticket to the post-race barbecue.

Interested fans can get their first glimpse of their favorite high school teams in controlled scrimmages this weekend. The preseason opens Friday with Glenwood traveling to Summit for a four-team practice which includes the host Tigers, Clear Creek and Hayden.

Rifle, the defending Class 3A state champ, is at Montrose. Roaring Fork is involved in a four-team scrimmage at Buena Vista with Hotchkiss and Alamosa. All start at 4 p.m.

Basalt scrimmages Aspen and Soroco Saturday morning at Aspen High. Grand Valley stretches their muscles against Fruita Monument’s junior varsity Saturday at 9:30 a.m. on Fruita Monument High School’s practice field.

Roaring Fork High School’s scores from Monday’s Demon boys prep golf tournament were left out of Tuesday’s edition. Individual scores were: Adam Joiner, 78; Derek Parker and Hayden Winkler at 86 each; and Ethan McVoy rounded out the Rams scoring with a round of 94.
